Paul Swaab, the Software Development Director at WCC Smart Search & Match shared with us his thoughts about Avedon Group’s investment in WCC that was sealed in December of 2016. As a long-term partner of WCC, NIRI is a part of the transformation which will bring forth a new and exciting future for everyone involved.
Could you tell me how Avedon became the owner of WCC?
Paul: WCC is a high-tech company that has had a steady growth in the past twenty years as well as a large base of important clients – all of which are long-time users of our state-of-the-art Smart Search & Match product called ELISE. We are now the leader in Search & Match systems with a huge potential for further growth. Avedon Capital is a Dutch fund which specifically targets companies such as ours, companies where they can boost the growth and speed up the development with the help of financial and strategic aid. That is why they decided to invest in WCC in the first place.

What happens next?
Paul: Next, we need to insure growth through further improvements of our products, and we must expand to other markets. We are well-positioned in the area of employment and identity solutions worldwide, and new opportunities are all around.
What does that mean for NIRI?
Paul: NIRI has been a reliable and an important partner to WCC for more than ten years, so you play a big part in this development process. This means that NIRI will have to grow even more and adapt to new technologies, processes and tools. More specifically, we look at NIRI to provide for us several independent teams that will handle innovative and challenging projects we have in knowledge management and applied machine learning.

Do you think NIRI is up for the challenge?
Paul: After the projects we have done together in the past year, I see that your competence and dedication are more than satisfactory, and I look forward to continuing our work together. You offer a somewhat unique combination of highly-skilled developers and data scientists which is important for WCC’s capacity for innovation and further development. So far so good!
